PERHAPS I can be forgiven for name dropping, but some years ago I was with a small group of journalists enjoying a cruise on one of the Star Clipper fleet.
Enjoying dinner with the PR lady accompanying us (and I’m sure he won’t mind my mentioning him by name) was Beatles’ biographer Hunter Davies.
We were due to dock the following morning in Palma and I mentioned that I knew well the owners of a hotel in Illetas, not 20 minutes from the port whom I was sure would welcome us for lunch.
It was, I told Hunter, a hotel the like of which he would never have experienced before.
