David adds ‘layer of Jewishness’ to film

DAVID Baddiel may have been snubbed by barmitzvah comedy film Sixty Six director Paul Weiland — but not by his son.

For Joe Weiland contacted the writer and comedian to see if he would star in his short film Gorka, which has been nominated for a British short film award at Sunday’s BAFTA ceremony.

“I know Joe’s dad and I was up for a part in Sixty Six — it went to Peter Serafinowicz, but let’s not get into that!” David laughed.

Eighteen years later and David is finally starring in a Weiland-made film, where he plays Morris, a Jewish man whose non-Jewish father-in-law is close to death.
